Rostec wants Russia to ban more medical equipment imports

MOSCOW, Aug 14 (PRIME) -- United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation, an affiliate of Russian industrial corporation Rostec, wants to extend the government’s list of foreign equipment prohibited to imports, a spokesman for the company told PRIME Friday.

“United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation together with the association of defense companies which produce medical equipment are making an additional list of domestically produced medical equipment which must oust imported analogues in state and municipal healthcare,” the official said.

The company will propose to rely only on local production of neurostimulators, tricameral cardiac pacemakers and equipment for blood transfusions. This equipment is either produced commercially or will be produced commercially soon in Russia, Alexander Kulish, director of United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation’s medical equipment development and production division, said.

The Industry and Trade Ministry earlier proposed to ban purchases of foreign equipment by state clinics if there are analogues in Russia.
